Admission to a New Zealand university depends on the level of study, the institution, and the chosen program. While specific requirements may vary by university, here are the general academic criteria for international students:

  1. Undergraduate (Bachelor’s Degree – NZQF Level 7)

✅ Minimum Academic Requirements:

  • Successful completion of Higher Secondary Schooling (equivalent to Year 13 in NZ)
  • For Indian students: CBSE, ISC, or State Board with an average of 65–75% (varies by university and course)
  • For other countries: Equivalent of NCEA Level 3 or A-levels

✅ Subject Requirements:

  • Some programs (e.g., Engineering, Health Sciences) may require specific subjects like Maths, Physics, Chemistry, or Biology at the high school level
  1. Postgraduate (Master’s Degree – NZQF Level 9)

✅ Minimum Academic Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university
  • Minimum GPA or grade: usually 2.7–3.0 out of 4 or equivalent (around 55–65% for Indian students)
  • Some courses may require a related field of study or relevant work experience
